Concerts in the Park Series: Our 23rd Season Has Ended

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, and THANK YOU!

We closed the curtain on another great year of our Concert in the Park series last night with one of our largest crowds of the summer. As Jake Slater and the Josh Ramses Band played their final chord, we were already looking forward to putting next summer’s programming together. We will start doing that in September.

On behalf of the Concert in the Park Committee, I would like to thank each of you who attended our concerts this year – our 23rd season. We got off to a rough start weather wise – with the heat index at 106, we had a group cancel their performance. Rain or heat entered into 5 of our 12 concerts this year… we started the season with rain and ended last night’s closing concert with some rain.

But, all in all, it was a great season, with outstanding performances and good crowds. We are bringing in top performing groups from all around the state. And, we even had an outstanding group come to St. Johns from Toronto this summer – the ABBA performance was extremely popular. It was a good year.

It takes a lot of people to make it all work – everyone from Ed Gurski and his city park staff – to Michelle Hill, our accountant – to Jeff Dietrich, Tanya Burt and Russell Shellberg who do a great job marketing our concerts each week – to Chris Ordiway, our sound tech, Marci Balogh, our emcee, to Ruthie Reynolds, our table lady, the Lions Club and many others. Kudos also to our wonderful Concert in the Park Committee, who really pulls it all together each year. It’s their passion for the concert series that really makes it happen.

AND again, we are grateful to you, our enthusiastic appreciative audiences each week. It’s because of your support, along with the support of the city and several organizations and businesses, that enable us to bring you this fine entertainment each summer. It’s because of you – the love that you show our performers, that brings them back to St. Johns to perform.
