Ukrainian Eggs by Mary Ellen Darnell

Easter Display at The Gallery

A fascinating seasonal display of Ukrainian Eggs is one of the featured exhibits at the Clinton County Arts Council Gallery from now through Easter. The eggs, creations of Artist Mary Ellen Darnell, have become a regular Easter attraction at the Gallery and her intricate artwork has drawn many viewers and fans. Ukrainian Eggs, also known as Pysankies, are a highly stylized Ukrainian tradition of dyeing kaleidoscopic symbols and colors onto eggs after having removed the yolk through a tiny hole in the shell. Ms Darnell’s display offers written history and traditions of the practice, providing viewers with a greater base of understanding.
