Talent takes the stage this spring at Wilson Center

ST. JOHNS - Spring is coming early in mid-Michigan - thanks to singers, dancers and songwriters set to perform in coming weeks at the Wilson Center Auditorium in St. Johns. Proceeds from the music series will be used for lighting and sound upgrades in the renovation project at the auditorium that is a new home for local community theatre and performers.

Popular duo, Dually Noted, and Clinton County Idol 2009 winner Taylor Fernandez kicks off the performance series with a March 5 show that begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5, available at the door.

Vocals and acoustic and electric guitar riffs by John Kelly and Carol Hazel make audiences stand up and take notice of Dually Noted. Pop, rock and country music are all part of the mix, everything from Roy Orbison to Guns and Roses, and Martina McBride to Pat Benatar. Hazel's voice skillfully covers a wide emotional range from tender county ballads to belted rock classics, and Kelly shares the vocal spotlight with an equally robust voice augmented by stellar guitar playing.

Dually Noted has performed for audiences throughout the greater Lansing area and recently had the honor of opening for Melissa Manchester.

At age of 13, Taylor Fernandez is already making an impact on the local music scene, winning both the 2009 Clinton County Idol and DeWitt Ox Roast Idol. She has performed at the St. Johns Mint Festival, DeWitt Concert Series and various other events in the mid-Michigan area. She plays guitar and keyboard in addition to her amazing voice, and has also written several songs. She credits Allison Krause, Taylor Swift, The Wreckers, Miranda Lambert and Sheryl Crow as musical inspirations.

"We’re excited to present these three wonderful performers in the opening show of this series," says committee member Bill Tennant. "One of our goals is to bring a variety of artists from our mid-Michigan community to this beautiful performance venue."

Other programs in the series include:

March 26, 27: Happendance 2, a youth dance group, aged 12-18, based in Okemos
April 16: Slingshot, classic rock & country group from Clinton County
April 28: The Meridian & DeWitt Community Concert Bands
May 22 : Social Security Scandals, variety show presented by seniors

Information on upcoming shows will be available at a later date.
